5th & 6th ambulances – delivered! πŸ’™πŸ’›

In April 2024, Ambulance Relief donated two more Mercedes Benz Sprinters! On 10th April 2024, our fifth ambulance was delivered to the Ukrainian Embassy in Berne. The following day it left Switzerland. Just as quickly, another suitable one was bought and delivered to the embassy on 15th April. The two ambulances met in Romania on 17th April and crossed into Ukraine the next day. Special thanks for the great photograph below, showing our gifts crossing the Romanian/Ukrainian border together. Ambulance Relief donated both ambulances to the same hospital. Within weeks, thanks to wonderful supporters worldwide, two more ambulances saving lives inside Ukraine πŸ’™πŸ’›

Thank you so much to the medics and guards at the hospital for sharing arrival photographs in April 2024. We are overjoyed to see our donations with you πŸ’™πŸ’›

This lifesaving work would not be possible without the incredible kindness of individuals and organisations who have seen that Ambulance Relief can deliver medical aid directly where it’s needed. These two ambulances cost 24,000CHF combined. This was raised over about nine months.

In the summer of 2023, Cochlear AG generously covered the cost of 7 specialist audiology machines for Ukraine. Once the hearing equipment was distributed to receiving hospitals across the country, the remaining balance of Cochlear’s donation became the engine for the next ambulance! Once again, thank you Cochlear for enabling this tremendous support.

Thank you Michael and Jan Clarke for your steadfast support from the very beginning, so generously contributing to all six ambulances.

Thank you Andrew and Megan Whalley for yet another wonderful dollar donation.

Thank you Henry in Switzerland, for writing to Helen Ramscar after the SwissInfo.ch article on her medical aid efforts and for donating so kindly.

Thank you Tony in the UK for supporting Ambulance Relief a second Ukrainian winter in a row.

Thank you parents of Grade 12 (class of 2022/2023) at the ISB school in Basel for your lovely end-of-year donation.

Thank you to Helen’s children for hosting a fun stall for kids at the Pratteln Winter Market in December 2023, raising 117CHF and learning so much in the process.

Thank you to the elderly gentleman who heard about their stall and afterwards surprised Ambulance Relief with a four-figure donation.

Goodness and kindness from different parts of the world, all channelled into these two fully operational ambulances now saving lives in Ukraine.

Ambulance Relief was deeply honoured when Ambassador Venediktova personally received the 5th ambulance and went on to extend such warm hospitality at the embassy. Thank you most sincerely to all Her Excellency’s staff involved in receiving these two vehicles and for extensive efforts to ensure they reached their destinations. It’s the honour of a lifetime to do this with you.

Ambulance Relief would like to thank ACT Special Cars for identifying these vehicles and for all our communications.

Personal thanks from Helen Ramscar to Swiss humanitarian aid driver Marcel Kubler and Ukrainian humanitarian aid driver Ruslan Novakovsky. When Helen asked if they would come with her on lengthy roundtrip to test drive possible ambulances, they did not hesitate. Their support wonderful. The three conversed in bits of German, English and Ukrainian, yet understood each other very well.

The Ambulance Relief team are thinking of all drivers, medics and patients in contact with our donations. We hope these ambulances save and support many lives.
