Ambulance 8 arrived in Zaporizhzhia

On 29th November 2024, Ambulance Relief’s 8th ambulance gift left Switzerland. It crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border early December. By 16th December it had reached its destination – a clinic in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine.

This wonderful, lifesaving donation was possible thanks to a joyful combination of donation stories over the last six months. When Pippa Postins in Switzerland asked if Ambulance Relief would try for an 8th ambulance, the answer had to be yes. Pippa and Steve’s gift turned the ignition on this 8th appeal. The irrepressible spirit in Colette Lain in the UK rallied her local St Helen’s Road neighbourhood; their raffle and street party events were a real boast. Andrew Whalley in the US asked pals to support this ambulance in lieu of birthday gifts and my goodness they did; thank you Andrew, Megan McSweeney and your great friends. And an overnight donation from Rudolf and Hildegrad Keller in Switzerland completed this appeal, which was stunningly kind. Over coffee in Basel, Stéphane Gay-Lang mentioned an offer of medical supplies from a hospital in Zurich; Stéphane did a rapid roundtrip to facilitate this great gift. Nick Ramscar’s donation covered the final administrative costs to formally export the ambulance ❤️

Immeasurable thanks to the Ukrainian Embassy in Switzerland for its practical help supporting the smooth delivery of this ambulance into Ukraine. Ambulance Relief is so grateful for this unique opportunity to deliver real, lifesaving aid where it is so needed and so deserved.

15th November 2024: Stéphane Gay-Lang delivers to Helen Ramscar medical supplies kindly donated by a hospital in Zurich.

29th November 2024: medical supplies are transferred into the ambulance and final paperwork is signed before the ambulance departs. Thank you ACT Special Cars Centre for including the second set of tyres inside the vehicle.
